The summer season in the UK is the season we all wait for throughout the year. Unfortunately, we don’t really get to experience too many sunny days in the UK during the year and to put things into context, that is pretty unlucky due to many factors, the most important of which is that the Sun is the critical component for providing Vitamin D– one of the crucial vitamins a person needs. As a result, due to fewer sunny days in the UK, there have been vast numbers of adults and children with Vitamin D deficiency. In fact, according to the National Diet and Nutrition Survey (NDNS), around 20% of adults in the UK have low levels of Vitamin D, leaving them with no choice but to take Vitamin D tablets and other medication that helps boost their Vitamin D levels. Let’s face it, though; it isn’t really their fault as it rains most of the time in the country they live in!
Although global warming is a significant threat to our world, to put things into perspective, there are a few positive sides to it as well. Take the UK, for example; one of the nations with an enormous amount of rainfall throughout the year– including on days of Summer when the weather is supposed to be good enough for people to go out for a stroll. With the considerable increase in global warming, people can enjoy their summers with sunnier days than ever experienced!
We must value these summer days here in the UK and take full advantage of them since this year (2022) has been unique in terms of the weather. Never in the UK had the temperature reached 40°C before this summer. Aside from just the health benefits you will get from enjoying the summer days, you will also find it very enjoyable to do things that you may not have got the chance to do during the months before, such as playing football with your friends in the park (without having to worry about taking a raincoat with you), playing tennis, playing golf and the list goes on! Therefore, we must make the most of this summer. Besides, let's face it, it is a summer that actually feels like summer– unlike the previous summers we experienced when we used to exit our houses and offices with umbrellas. Anyway, here are a few tips on how you can do so:
Spend Time Outdoors Playing Sports
Spending time outdoors playing football or any game with your friends is ideal. It will not only lead to a massive boost in your Vitamin D level but will make you very happy, trust us! You can gain several benefits from playing outside in the summer with your friends. Firstly, if you are overweight and would like to find a great alternative other than just eating healthy all the time, going outside and playing sports will be very effective. Walking and jogging are also a great way to lose weight; however, they can be a little boring, which is why it is best to play games you enjoy outside, ideally during the summertime as winters can be freezing in the UK. If you are lucky enough to have a tennis court near your house, know that playing tennis will not only be something that you’ll love but will also be very good for your body, considering tennis is a sport that requires movement of all parts of the body. A few other sports that you should try out this summer are badminton, swimming, football, rugby and if you are an experienced golf player don’t miss this opportunity– unless you don’t mind waiting another year!
Limit Your Technology Usage
There are countless fun activities for you to do in the summer, some of which are listed in the section above. Despite dozens of fun and exciting things to do in the summer, people still keep themselves isolated in their houses by watching movies on Netflix, playing video games on their games console and most commonly, using social media apps on their phones! With such fine weather in the UK now, we should at least spend an hour outdoors playing games and engaging in fun activities. By shortening your time on technology, you will find it much easier to start engaging in other activities that will benefit you in many ways– benefits that you may have not even thought of!
