Why Buy an Overly Expensive Herman Miller Chair When Flexispot Has Such a Great Alternative?

29 October 2021

Working from home has become a pretty standard operation for many of us over the past couple of years. And while there are a lot of huge benefits to this, there are a few pitfalls as well; one being the lack of suitable office equipment in place. Without this, your body may suffer unnecessarily. Desks can be quite imaginative and made up of many things as there’s not much to them. But a good chair, on the other hand, needs to be a lot more.

The Herman Miller Aeron chair is a chair that’s become rather well known in the office equipment world. It’s sleek, it’s very well made, and provides a great level of lumbar support. But, it comes with one massive downfall - the price. This chair will set you back over £1000. A Flexispot BS8 Office Chair, on the other hand, features all the same brilliant qualities (and more) for a fraction of the cost.

Let’s take a closer look.

Main Features

The Flexispot BackSupport Office Chair is a fantastic chair all around. It’s made using some of the best quality materials and provides a great level of support for anyone having to sit for more than a couple of minutes at a time. The frame itself is very strong and rigid offering great stability for any person weighing up to 120kg.

It features foldable armrests to help save space and provide a better level of comfort and solidl built rollers (castors) wrapped in PU to ensure minimise noise and potential damage to flooring.

The Herman Miller Aeron chair also offers many of the same features as the FlexiSpot BackSupport Office chair. It too is well made, using pretty solid materials across the board. Dispensing on the option chosen, the frame is strong enough to support maximum loads of between 136 kg to 159kg.

With this chair you’ll also find adjustable arms and castors that are designed to tackle both hard floors and carpets.

Functions

When it comes to functionality, the BS8 chair has everything you need (and more) from a desk chair. It has a swing function that allows the back of the chair to tilt, giving you more flexibility in movement. The height of the chair can be easily adjusted between 44.5 cm and 53.5 cm, as can the height and tightness of the backrest. ensuring your comfort and enabling you to get the right fit for your desk.

The Herman Miller chair is also pretty comprehensive when it comes to functionality. It too offers a tilt limiter and adjustable seat height to help your body achieve the correct posture.

Design

The BS8 has a very ergonomic design which is ideal for anyone who sits for a long time. It’s made of breathable material that enables air to pass through, meaning less odour and less chance of mould developing. The seat itself is W-shaped, which is designed to reduce pressure when sitting. And thanks to its elastic filling, there’s no sinking or deforming of the seat, even after a long period.

In comparison, the Aeron chair is also very well designed to ensure your body maintains proper alignment however you choose to sit in it. It provides good spinal support at all times and is pretty comfortable to sit in. You can also choose to have either standard or leather armpads.

Price

Even in a sale, you’d be hard pushed to find a Herman Miller Aeron chair for less than £1000, and that’s the basic model. To upgrade to the polished, mineral version with leather arm pads, you’re looking at another £500 on top of that

In contrast, the Flexispot BS8 chair is an amazingly low price considering all that you’re getting for your money. Here, you’re looking at a cost of around £300 for the standard model. All the same great features, and offering the same kind of level of lumbar support as the Aeron chair but much, much less. Who can argue with that?

Conclusion

As you can see, both chairs have some excellent qualities to them. Both have been carefully designed with the end user in mind. They’re both very comfortable to sit in for long periods of time, and both offer great posture support. However, there’s one model that just pips it at the post, and that’s the BS8 chair.

Not only does this chair provide great comfort and flexibility with its super ergonomic design, but it’s also excellent value for money. Sure you may be able to get leather arm pads with the Herman Miller Aeron chair, but at what cost?

If you’re looking for a desk chair that’s comfortable, supportive and of great value then the Flexispot BackSupport Office Chair BS8 is the way to go.
