“You can’t control everything. Sometimes you just need to relax and have faith that things will work out. Let go a little and just let life happen.” - Kody Keplinger (https://7summitpathways.com/). This is one inspiring quote that expresses how we should deal with the ups and downs in life, especially these days that many things make us stressed out aside from the coronavirus pandemic.
There are other problems that come to our lives and they are inevitable such that we just have to cope with them. Otherwise, we could suffer stress and anxiety that could affect our mental health.
Recently, we have some bad news about deaths due to the scorching heatwave in some parts of the country. This is really disheartening as lives are gone just because of some intense changes in the weather that make us lose some of our loved ones.
In this situation, although it is really painful, we have to let it go and try to move on as life does not stop there. We know that life must go on. There are times that we cannot control situations that are happening in our lives and it is not only true with one individual but others experience painful events in life. We have to carry on with our lives and do whatever is best for all of us.
Mental health is now one of the issues that health experts are focusing on.
This is because of the prevalence of people suffering from too much stress and anxiety as they deal with their problems in life. We can help each other cope with eventualities with a positive attitude towards life. We have to be strong in these times of turmoil due to uncontrollable and bad situations.
One of the things that we could do is to communicate and share with others our worries and problems with people who we can trust. For example, we have our friends for a long time and we know they are loyal to us and they won’t forsake nor betray us because we knew them for a long time and we know their character and being trustworthy.
Sometimes communication is the key to being able to zero in on the solutions to our problems. Although, there are circumstances that solutions are not readily available. But at least we can get some advice from our trusted friends that could lead to the solutions of the problems eventually.
I have my best friend. She was my classmate in elementary school. We still are best friends today although she no longer resides in the country. She moved to Australia when she got married to an Australian.
Although we were thousands of miles apart, we found time to communicate with each other through social media and she has helped me a lot during those days when I was feeling down and really very sad because I lost my parents through a tragic accident and after two years my husband passed away leaving me helpless and confused.
She made me think about all these circumstances, good or bad or the thorny path is part of living in this world that we have to surmount and hurdle because life is still precious that we should appreciate and work on. Through her, I was able to pick up the pieces with constant reminders from her that I still have my daughter to take care of and support for the rest of my life.
When my husband passed away, I felt that my world crumbled and I did not know what to do. My best friend helped me to get through all the bad situations in my life. I guess you also have your best friends that are really serious about helping us through thick and thin.
Mental health is as important as physical health.
Sometimes we focus only on our physical health and we forget about making our minds clear and emotions in control that lead us to confusion, stress, anxiety, and depression that could lead to mental health problems.
How do we take care of our mental health? There are ways to maintain our mental health when we are beset with uncontrollable and negative situations in life. I gathered some of those ways from an online( https://www.mentalhealth.org.uk/) that may also be some food for thought for you such as:
- Eat well or earth nutritious food for a healthy mind - You also have to have regular meals and plenty of water, it is better if you brown bag because usually, food from home is healthier. When you feel stressed out, do not drink coffee or other beverages that have caffeine that may trigger nervousness and loss of focus.
- Drink alcohol moderately- excessive drinking may make your mind fog that you could no longer think and decide clearly.
- Take a break - work is never done. For long years that you have been working, you have to take some time for yourself such as going on a vacation with your family, or you could spend a vacation alone signing off from your smartphones and from the social media
- Do something that interests you or spend time with your hobby whatever it is. It may be swimming, nature tripping, drawing, etc. Enjoy every minute of the time when you can because time will never go back as it used to be.
- Exercise - medical experts found that physical exercise could help promote mental health and reduce stress and anxiety.
Doing physical activities such as exercise will be perfect even if you are at work with a Flexispot exercise machine such as the Sit2Go 2-in-1 Fitness Chair. This awesome product is super comfortable and a good replacement for an ordinary office chair.
With this particular product, you can do cycling while being productive at work. As such, you are shooting two birds at the same time. Cycling is smooth and easy. It is movable with its rolling casters that make it easier to bring it to another location as you wish.
