Just because adjustable beds are associated with hospitals doesn't mean that your bedroom has to look like one. Here are our top tips for making the most of your adjustable bed.
Unlike traditional beds, adjustable beds such as the EB01 adjustable bed base can be raised and lowered at certain parts and give the sleeper more options for rest. A common misconception is that adjustable beds can have a clinical feel - however, that's only because most people are used to seeing or using adjustable or electric beds when they are in the hospital!
In truth, when they are station flat, adjustable beds look like any standard bed. You can also attach various headboards so you can match your adjustable bed to the aesthetic of your room.
Bed Skirts
Bed skirts are the decorative fabric that runs along the base of your bed to hide the lower part of the frame. If you are worried about seeing any of the bed's mechanisms underneath your bed, and bed skirt is the best solution.
Bedskirts come in all colours and styles, so it should be easy to find one to match your taste and your room. When we talk about bed skirts the classic pleated look may come to mind, but bed skirts range from ruffled to straight. It is important to check that the bed skirt you choose is compatible with adjustable beds, as traditional bed skirts do not move with the bed and can become trapped.
Custom Headboards
If the adjustable bed comes without a headboard - or a standard one - you can always opt to have a custom headboard installed.
No matter what type of bed you have the headboard is the crowning jewel, and if you love the adjustable bed but not the headboard, it is possible to have a different style put on, that better matches your room.
Mostly, adjustable beds come with the option to install your own headboard, but if not, try speaking to a carpenter, preferably one with experience in making beds.
You could also do away with the headboard altogether and do something truly unique. Decorating the wall behind your bed with unusual colours or wall stickers adds a personal touch, or try adding high shelves as a practical way to make your bed stand out and really compliment the rest of the room.
Add a Bench
If bed skirts aren’t our thing then you may want to try adding a bench to the bottom of your bed. It wasn't help to hide the sides of the bed frame, but it offers additional storge and surface space. Benches come in various designs and styles to compliment the look fo your bedroom.
You could also use other items at the bottom of the bed instead of a bench, such as a low nd wide cabinet, which serves as a creative way to shelf books for night time reading, and various other knick knacks that you might need close to hand.
Add Your Own Bedframe
If none of the above are suited to you, then the good news is that most adjustable beds are designed to fit within a stand alone bedframe. You can even find custom fit bedframes that feature slots so you can install your own headboard and foot board.
Ording a stand alone bedframe is simple. All you need to do is measure the dimensions of your adjustable bed while it is fully reclined. You can place a custom order with a bedframe company or you could ask your adjustable bed supplier if they do customer bedframes.
Making your adjustable bed feel as familiar as your old traditional bed is not as difficult as you may think. There are lots of options available according to your needs, such as bed skirts, benches and headboards hat can hide the all or some of the adjustable bedframe so your new bed is in keeping with your bedroom decore.
Buying good quality matching bedcovers and throws, and supportive pillows also goes a long way towards making your adjustable bed look as good as it feels.
Purchasing a custom bed frame is the pricier otion, but it does really finish off the look. Just because you have an adjustable bed does not mean tht you are limited for options. You can create a look for your bed that harmonises your bedroom and gives the whole room a relaxing, comfortable and practical atmosphere that will promote a good night sleep.
